wivane Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Hi all, I dont know if this is possible but I would like to know if I can force students to join a lobby when joining a meeting so they are not able to start the meeting before the organiser is in the meeting. It seems as though when the students join the meeting they can start the meeting without the teachers being present. Is there a way to stop this? Also when you click on the "..." mor actions button and click end meeting the students are still able to re-join that meeting and start it over again. Is there a way to stop this automatically without cancelling the meeting once it has finished? Thanks in advance for any help
DODICT Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) if your students are part of your 365 tenancy no you cant force a lobby but it is being looked at. Once a meeting is created go back into it in the calendar view and you can see meeting options - this gives you the controls avaialable but where your students are in your tenancy you cant force them to use the lobby - this is somewhere teams is playing catch up to being used in education not business. I'm pretty sure if you end the meeting as organiser that ceases it and you cant rejoin however pressing the red phone symbol leaves doesnt end it. This was a recent development for education for the purpose you mention and pretty sure its worked when I have used it. if you want to vote on the original points development its here https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053-schools-and-universities/suggestions/39962434--wait-in-lobby-for-student-participants-in-sche the meetings options area is a must for teachers to change who can present to just them which means students cant - it would be nice to be able to set these as defaults . . . I have tried with a test student in a test "class" however when I use the End Meeting the meeting is still joinable via the team content area and the calendar and students are able to restart the meeting. I was hoping I missed something in the meeting options but i couldnt see anything specific. I have voted already on the development point I was just wondering if there was a work around. Thanks for the help
DODICT Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Have you looked at live events ? they are available now and you do have the option to hold them there - its a more restricted setup so prob not bad option for using with students but theres a couple of steps to publish your content to the stage which I dont think is as easy as a meeting but otherwise its a sound option for delivering a remote lesson. I'll test the end meeting setting but this was quite a big development point for them so surprised if this wasnt working and I'd missed it.
kirbster73 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 This is exactly why we use the meet now option within channels. When you start a meeting like this, the meeting doesn’t start until the teacher is there and ends when they click on end for all. There’s no entry in a calendar which allows pupils to enter whenever they want. We don’t schedule any meetings for exactly this reason
MD120 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 A Lobby for in tenancy users is due quite soon I'm led to believe. 1
