Darksoth Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 Hi all, We've recently created Office 365 groups via Salamander with the aim of creating Teams from these. However, as soon as these were created, students in a year group started to Reply to the welcome mail, causing an email storm to all members of the year group & teachers associated with it. We have unticked the "Send copies of group conversations and events..." option in group settings but the emails have continued. Does anyone know of a way to stop students being able to send messages to the O365 group mailbox or if there is a Powershell command to unsubscribe students' inboxes so they only receive event/meeting invitations? Thanks!
jthompson Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 Using G Suite here but I imagine the equivalent is possible in O365. We have email routing rules applied to student users that reject messages that they send to email groups and reject any messages with more than 30 recipients. So, you might want to approach it using email routing rules (not sure of the exact O365 terminology) rather than settings on the groups themselves. 1
chazzy2501 Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 we had this happen a bit, we told the pupils to not do that. Now it doesn't happen. 1
NicholasEsping Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 (edited) You could create a mailflow rule to block any messages sent to the group email by students. Edited June 8, 2020 by NicholasEsping 1

I'll give it a go. we had this happen a bit, we told the pupils to not do that. Now it doesn't happen. If only it were that simple! Cheers guys!
ifarmery Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 There’s a PowerShell script for this https://www.tonyishere.co.uk/useful-powershell-scripts-for-managing-classes-in-microsoft-teams/ 2
