Hi Guys,

Have a 2012 virtual machine which hosts a financial database application.

I want to set a user up with a remote connection whereby when they log on to this virtual machine from home, if anyone else logs onto the virtual machine it doesn't log that user off.

Setting up the remote connection is not a problem, it's just the logon part of it. I want the user to be able to stay logged on directly to the VM with her login until she logs off, whilst at the same time I may be logged onto the VM as myself. Do I need to setup the connection as a terminal server connection to the VM ? The main DC server is 2016 which hosts the 2012 application VM within hyperv.

Any feedback much appreciated.

I meant to say setup the connection as Remote Desktop Services (aka Terminal Services)

You’ll need to use an RDS host, then it’s a case of deciding how you want to present access - as a remote app or as a desktop for the user. You could set up RDS on this server, or create a new one to separate roles.

Bear in mind that RDS CALs cost extra on something like OVS-ES.
