ITGURU Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Just to let you know having updated to the spring release yesterday, the contacts section is greyed out for normal class teacher and registration tutor permissions so unable to gain access to contact details. Having called capita this is a known issue and a work around is available below: Sims 7.192: Unable to open contact information from panel 5 Family/Home when viewing student details KB0035914 91 views Since the Sims.net upgrade from 7.190 to 7.192, some users will find that they can no longer open contact records from the student record in Panel 5 Family/Home and/or can no longer scroll from left to right for the contacts within Panel 5. Users may find this obscures the contacts telephone numbers when attempting this. This is an issue with the standard permission templates and Capita are currently working on a permanent fix for this issue. The following permission groups have not been affected: - Administration Assistant - Admission Officer - Partnership Server Agent - Partnership Server Manager - School Administrator If affected users do not have one of the above permission groups, they are likely to encounter this issue. As a temporary work around, we suggest viewing the name of the contact associated with the student via menu route: - Focus| Student| Student Details| Search| Panel 5 Family/Home - Once you have the name of the contact you would like to view, follow menu route: - Focus| Person| Contact| Search - Then search for that contact by name, this should allow the user to view the contacts information 1
pete Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) Is it still visible using Student Teacher View? (Focus > Student > Student Teacher View) I know that'll only show the primary contact but for class/form tutor use that's normally sufficient. Anything beyond that (here at least) tends to be more urgent and involves the office or someone with sufficient permissions. Edited April 14, 2020 by pete
mullet_man Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I've upgraded to this last night and now got staff who are having this issue, did Capita ever fix it?! The workaround seems quite a long way round
ITGURU Posted May 20, 2020 Author Posted May 20, 2020 I've upgraded to this last night and now got staff who are having this issue, did Capita ever fix it?! The workaround seems quite a long way round Yes, workstation patch has been released which fixes the issue, but i've also noted that on some accounts (possibly the ones who had the greyed out issue) it now shows the fields in BLUE when you double click to show the full entry details which I am currently querying with Capita.
mullet_man Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Thanks I've just found the fix, we run SIMS without Solus for the clients so am not sure how my clients will pick up the patch?!
pete Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Thanks I've just found the fix, we run SIMS without Solus for the clients so am not sure how my clients will pick up the patch?! Haven't seen the patch in question, but you can push most Capita workstation patches/updates out with the /s switch using SCCM/powershell/whatever.
mullet_man Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 The extract of the patch is just a few files and an updated Pulsar.exe so not sure what it possible to push it out that way
ITGURU Posted May 20, 2020 Author Posted May 20, 2020 Haven't seen the patch in question, but you can push most Capita workstation patches/updates out with the /s switch using SCCM/powershell/whatever. How you do apply the releases normally when they come out , if you don't use SOLUS?
pete Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 They're usually pushed out as an executable that replaces a couple of files and Pulsar.exe. Was it a zip file, or did you extract the .exe? How you do apply the releases normally when they come out , if you don't use SOLUS? SCCM or . Capita's installers are pretty generic - there's little that can't be pushed out in the usual manner.
mullet_man Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 These are the files it's extracting, although the patch isn't installing on the server it's failing on Workstation install. Saving the cacheprocess.dll is in use or something. Think I need to reboot the server and try again. As it's not finishing the patch install am wondering if this is the issue!?!
mullet_man Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I get this error TasksetRunner|Result was Failed for task 'Install Workstation Patch Files' with message 'Failed to patch as file C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\CacheProcesses.dll is in use'|UpdateProgress() The file isn't in use as I can rename it fine?!
