asad_online Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Hi, Does anyone know what license is required to create Live events in MS Teams? We have Office Pro Plus license but when try to schedule a live event we get an error message say, invalid license. Thanks
TechMonkey Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Funnily enough I was looking at this today as well. Not found a solution yet though. According to this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-live-events/plan-for-teams-live-events all you need is O365 E1, E3, E5, A3 or A5, and Teams and Stream. Stream comes included with A3 and A5 and I can see it as an app in our licenses but it still won't work. Not sure if I am just missing something or I just don't have the right Stream license.

I've been asked about using Teams to do a few careers based workshops by our careers adviser and was going to suggest Live Events. But, we don't necessarily have a license for it. However, when I looked at it in depth on our Tenant, and I do have the option to create a Live Event. I did a test Event and it all seemed to work - but we're not licensed for A3 which is what I thought was needed as a minimum. We only have Office 365 A1 Plus (and Microsoft 365 Apps as it's now called). Am I missing something here, or is just now available? Pete

You can pass them around by unassigning and reassigning but it isn’t instant.

According to Microsoft documentation: Here are the licenses that must be assigned to produce or present a Teams live event: A Microsoft or Office 365 Enterprise E1, E3, or E5 license or an Office 365 Education A3 or A5 license. A Microsoft Teams license. - this is included in the licenses above. A Microsoft Stream license - is required if you are planning to share the content to an external app or device; see Microsoft Stream licensing. I'm fairly sure Stream is covered under the A1 license. Do you generally have your producers as the presenters too?

I'm trying to find the text on this, I can see limitations being lifted until July such as amount of attendees or the duration but I can't see anywhere that Live Events for non-licensed will stop in July? Just for context I have an A1 license.
mdrabble Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 (edited) I purchased A3 licensing for teaching staff before Microsoft announced the free offer!! You only need to use an encoder if you are using 3rd party apps to run the live event. after the event has ended, You go back into the live event schedule to access the resources and producers get the chance to download the recording. - Can take a while for it to become available. Attendees can also do the same if the options has been set for them to do so. I’ve told staff to disable attendee option and if they want to share it, upload to one drive and share from there.
