ITGURU Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 I've got RemoteApp access running on a server, and is working absolutely fine for 99% of users even on MACs with the RDP download. However, for some staff who are using laptops, they cannot connect to any of the apps... When they go to the URL, they get the login page - they can login fine They select an app - it downloads the file They open the file - they get prompted for their credentials. After entering credentials they get: your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the remote desktop gateway server is temporarily unavailable. How do i resolve this? It's not a server side issue and if i do a ping or nslookup it's responding correcting as they can obviously resolve the FQDN as they can get to the website to login.... Where do i need to go for the logs to find the problem? Thanks.
Steve21 Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Is this users at home or on site? Normally that kind of thing could be something like they've left their proxy settings on (if you still do it that way), and it's trying to access it via exceptions etc so can't resolve where it's connecting to Steve

bknaggs Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Check they are using the latest version of the Remote Desktop client from the app store. If they are still using version 8 it won't connect these days and I think the error is something like you're seeing. Is it any different if they setup the app with the webfeed rather than logging in and downloading an RDP file?
siuko Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 The other thing to check is their ISP - we have had 3 so far that use Vodafone and it seems to have Remote Access blocked or something Whatever we do on these machine they just won't connect (teamviewer worked fine in to a staff machine to check it)

Determined the machine is on build 1709! so getting that updated which will hopefully resolve the issue.
Chaniel Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 If you're using RD Gateway, it shouldn't be blocked by an ISP as it goes over port 443. If you've just exposed RDP to the web over 3389, which might get blocked by ISP routers, you need to stop that as it's an absolutely massive security risk.

ITGURU Posted March 31, 2020 Author Posted March 31, 2020 Laptop has now updated to 1803 but same issue!
bknaggs Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Does it make any difference if the user sets up a Remote App Connection in the Control Panel or installs the Remote Desktop store app and configures a web feed in there? Any VPN that could be used to bypass the gateway as a test?
ITGURU Posted March 31, 2020 Author Posted March 31, 2020 OK so the issue is now resolved - after running the windows 10 updater online so it goes to version 1909 it now works successfully!
