Gongalong Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Hi folks, I'm trying to create a report that returns students studying a particular subject. The difficulty I have is that subject is within the Classes table, and I can't figure out how I filter on that. If I select Classes in the filter section I don't have the option to pick a specific field within that table, it just shows me Classes. Any suggestions? Thanks
Seb1780 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I usually use the General Student List and apply filters to that. One of the filters is "students who study subject x" 1
Gongalong Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Thanks. With the report I'm trying to get the Mathematics class code, for import into a cloud system. So in the report I want the student name and just their Maths class code. I can get it via Reports > Student List > Class List, but then it's a faff to massage the data in the resulting spreadsheet into something I can import. The General Student List give me all classes, so I don't think I can use that.
Seb1780 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 No access to SIMS to the moment, so I this is off the top of my head:- In General Student List oon the right hand side there is the ability to add other fields to the report, I think by default it is set to something like "Basic" but you can change this to "Curriculum" and then, from the drop down options, select "Classes of a subject" I can get full details on Monday, if that's any good.
Gongalong Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 If I drag those over I get lots of columns. Essentially it adds the students timetable, and I don't seem to get the ability to filter on a particular subject. Using Filter in the top section I can filter to a subject, but then it shows me all students still with all the columns because they take Mathematics.
Seb1780 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Reports / Student List / General Student List On RHS under "Select Data Area" change the first drop down from "Standard" to "Academic" Change the second drop down to "Subject Classes" Select Maths from the list of subjects and drag it to add a column to the report 2
vikpaw Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Possibly not needed, but if you wanted something dynamic using a report, this is similar to what you want i think with a filter. It should work on group/class code: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/96066-running-reports-against-udgs.html#post835812 1
Gongalong Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 Useful to know, thanks. I didn't realise double clicking on the table in field selection view would open up the ability to filter.
