They have now added the asset system, that was never my job, on to my role against the suggestion of occupational health and have said that I can do that while I am there. I have been actively working all day every day from home, even managed to fix the heads PAs laptop using facetime because she couldnt explain what she was seeing on screen. I can only think this is a political move against me, maybe to try and force me out.

Probably, are they worried everything's being stolen by ghosts? You can automate asset management anyway, computers can self report, and rfid tags can be scanned from 5m away, so can just walk around the building once and find everything in 30 mins.

Keep an eye out for new jobs while you wait, whenever you can avoid working for idiots, do so

See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-guidance-for-employees. The very first sentence is "You should work from home unless it is impossible for you to do so." You have demonstrated you can. Look for support, union, LA, citizens advice, legal, chair of governors, whatever it takes. Without being alarmist, following the request could unnecessarily be endangering lives. A big chunk of the country are working from home and they are not doing it for fun. Edited by Ditto

Well, just had the call from the business manager. I have been ordered to go back onsite every day from 8 till 4 to make sur ethat I am doing my job, the same job I have been doing from home successfully for the last two weeks, working late into the night some days. Its a disgrace. I am now he only member of staff, teaching or non teaching, that is going to be onsite every day. I asked the question of is every other member of non teaching staff proving that they are actively working every day

If they're asking that of you as a non-teaching staff member., they have to ask it of everyone on the same terms and conditions as you. If they're not they're discriminating against you, and they definitely don't want a constructive dismissal case once this is over.

Refuse, tell them you're speaking to your union and definitely, without a second thought, raise it with them.

Call their bluff, involve your union, anyone else you know with legal experience, they will soon go weak at the knees

You are massively in the right, on a number of counts, not just protection from the illness, discriminatory practice, and various others

Thanks everyone. i am going to do this week and see exactly who else comes in. Once I have a pattern of who is coming and going I am going to contact the headteacher directly and ask for clarification on my working days, at least then I have everything in writing when I take it further.

I can see a lot of time being allocated to learning some programming and project management.

Myself and my deputy are busy upgrading all our servers that we never get a chance to do - so far we have upgraded 7 servers - about to do our hybrid server upgrade to exchnage 2016 and also our MIS server.

This is probably the only time we have had an opportunity to do this without constant interruption.

I was reading through quickly and for about 2 seconds, I thought you meant your Deputy Head. What a dream, when the entire team comes together...:hail::hail:

Then I realised.

Anyone else been amazed by the number of tickets you've got, till today where it has dried up a little. Annoying ones are when there is issues with the user machines/action not the actual systems we've brought in, ie students powerpoint starting in safe mode, isn't really my doing

Well for the first two days of our shutdown we were in, then the HT said everyone not directly critical to the students learning are to stay home. So like 2 staff on site only to cover the 20 students. Even my whole team are home. We've been doing email checking etc and 99% of the tasks done remotely.

That was all a few weeks ago. I really don't understand how staff can be allowed on site when the nation is in lock down. I want to go to work and get things done but come on.. people are dying in the hundreds and the NHS is tight. Those staff are being pushed in 10+ shifts and are putting their lives at risk. Yes the majority of deaths are those with other health problems but even the healthy ones are dying or being put in to intensive care.

People should not be going to work unless you are working seriously critical to protecting lives (no offence guys but we're not in this bracket). There are quite a few of my family members that have a high risk factor including my Mrs. We have rarely left our property just for a 5 minute walk. Luckily enough for us our route takes us no where near anyone or anywhere busy.

Stay home, stay safe. Sooner or later the Gov may take more drastic actions and frankly I'd have zero sympathy for people being fined/arrested. This is serious, this is not a joke. Stay home. Not even your boss should nbe telling you to go to work.

I requested to work from home before school closed, so been off site since 18th March (besides a trip in on 19th to swap the laptop for a decent PC). My tech did part of the first week on site sorting out laptops, then worked from home and then was furloughed so nobody on site, I'm not going on site as I'm in a vulnerable group and minimal reliance on the on-site equipment anyway as everything is in OneDrive/Teams/Azure.

My boss is occasionally on site if he's rota'd in for looking after key worker kids (but there is no teaching, they are following the same remote learning as the rest of the kids sat at home, so the teachers on site are literally just providing childcare) so if I need anything physically poking I can talk him through it.

First week was rather busy, but I've found all tasks take a lot less time to complete when sat at home with no interruptions and we're now at the stage where, this week at least, we were getting 0-1 tickets a day (although it is Easter holidays). I've been catching up on work I had put off for a couple of holidays, although that's all completed now. I'm going to take advantage of Microsoft pushing back the MCSA/MCSE exam retirement date from June to January to work on 70-744 (Securing windows server) so I'm ready to sit the exam later this year.

our school somewhat closed - teachers are teaching from home, students are studying from home.

The ones who're coming to the office are principals, office staff, cleaning staff, and gardeners.
