I'm tearing my hair out with this, anytime we get more than 5 users attempt to connect to our terminal server with RDS they get the error message 'The number of connections to this computer is limited and all connections are in use right now' , we have plenty of RDS user cals and the licence mode is set to user, I've made changes to group policy to allow unlimited connections but still seeing this error!

The method of working is staff set up a VPN tunnel with Forticlient and then an RDP connection file to enter their login credentials which connects to the terminal server and presents them with their normal school desktop. Works perfectly for up to 5 concurrent users but bombs everytime anyone else tries to connect!

Anyone had anything similar?

I'm not seeing anything adverse I can spot in the event viewer that I can think to check, RDS user cals definitely activated.

Check the settings for your RDS collection - you can manually specify a limit. I have our cluster set to 40 connections per host.

Thanks, checked that and it is set to 999999

Just a thought as we had similar issues, is the 999999 policy set locally or Via central GPO?

I set ours on both and it seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks all for the advice, feel a bit foolish but simongrahamuk gave me the idea that fixed it, I could have sworn I had already checked but sure enough I ran rsop.msc and there was a 'Workstation' policy affecting the server and limiting the connections. Corrected this and all is well!
