iSteve Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Hi all, Hope everyone is well. We have a few Eaton 5PX UPS devices at our site. We have been overhauling our UPS provision recently and making sure things are ship shape. We have updated the NICs in these to the latest firmware and have started updating the actual UPS firmware too. We have some units that are on firmware version 02 - probably what they shipped with in 2012. The latest version is 14. We are using Eaton SetUPS to update the firmware. The instructions say that with the UPS off, apply the firmware update. The UPS should click and reboot in to a bootloader where the firmware updates, the lights on the front should flash, then we should restart the UPS to complete the process. This was successful one one unit, however on all the devices running version 02, the UPS clicks off but does not reboot in to the bootloader - we have to remove mains, disconnect the battery, then power it all back up again to bring it to life where it says it's still running version 02. Does anyone have experience with these? Is it likely that the jump between 02 and 14 is too high and we need to get an intermediate version before trying to go to 14? We are working offsite so I cannot test this at the moment, but I thought I would ask the group just incase someone can give a definitive answer! Thanks, Stephen
markwilfan Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I have bricked one of these by updating firmware. Even eaton couldn't revive it. Our other one took an update but now gives gibberish via SNMP. Useful
