I am trying to install SIMS on to a PC in a primary school. The school does not have a domain. Every time I try to install the agent via SOLUS I get an access denied error. I have turned off both the firewall and AV software.

The server and client machine can see each other, they are on the same subnet. I can install the Agent manually, which goes through, but then will not install SIMS and I get the same Access Denied error under the agent tab in Solus. I am using the right username/password for the client that is a local administrator. I have tried various ways of inputting the username (machinename\user, user). I am missing something that is probably simple but can't see it. Any help would be appreciated.

The server must have the client username/password to install the agent.

But then does the agent need a server username/password to get the update files from the file share?

Check the actual agent logs on the client to get more useful errors

Have you enabled remote access desktop connections for the local admins? That's all I have needed to do as well at those that you have done already.
