ictgoodpractice Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) My primary has an ageing switch. It is a nightmare to manage. All of our network kit is Ubiquiti after a new Unifi wireless install. We did not have the budget to upgrade main switch. The Web controller software for Ubiquiti is great. It would be easier to put in their non poe 48 port switch. However, the Netgear seems to get great reviews. People that have used Ubiquiti switches and Netgear Pro any advice please? AJWhite1970 Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Depends on your network. If it’s flat then the UniFi will be fine as a core, if you want complex layer 3 VLAN routing then the gen1 UniFi switch won’t be up to the job as it’s only layer 2 and you’ll need to look elsewhere 1
ictgoodpractice Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 What issue are you having with the switch? It is old and we are replacing the server, it is also a separate system to upgrade Unifi would make it all centrally managed.
