FN-GM Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Hi all, I am just wondering what modules you all use on your Moodle VLE’s please? Thanks Z
Geoff Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Beyond the standard blocks we use: book, myCourses, slideshow and nanogong.
Jona Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Here we use: A highly modified version of "e-mail" - Moodle: Modules and plugins Autoview presenter - Moodle: Modules and plugins Image slideshow - Moodle: Modules and plugins Book - http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=319 I think that's all maybe a few extra blocks and filters. We're still on 1.8 stable for reference.
beeswax Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I haven't got this up and running yet (summer job, I think), but it looks good. We're on 1.9
FN-GM Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) thanks guys, we was going to use Uniservity but we managed to talk SLT out of and give Moodle a go. Edited November 2, 2008 by FN-GM
duncane Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) I've just launched Moodle to staff. I wanted to make sure that they would find value in it even before using it as a VLE, so I installed: Online Documents: to provide secure access to their "My Documents" and other drives from home. MRBS: so that they can book ICT rooms from home - this means they can finalize their plans in the evening for the next day. I've also installed the Role-based HTML block, so that I can provide tailored resource menus to staff and students (and ultimately parents etc) I've also messed around a little with "My Moodle", to add news items above the courses (only the header from the posts, with the subject text clickable to go to the full article). secretlife Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 anyone got anymore please? first one on school Moodle; others on my test sites... Questionnaire or Feedback block (useful for surveys/evaluation) Game module (best for KS3 -takes questions from glossary/quiz and puts into 5 different types of game) certificate module (generates personalised certificate on course/activity completion)
danIT Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 We currently use: Face-to-Face module - Used for CPD. Feedback - Essential module i believe, here you can gain quick wins with staff who want to use the 'Quiz' module but find it a bit complicated. Lightbox - Looks good Slideshow - Has more teaching and learning value Podcast Module - for languages I've also installed another module which is more for the administration side of things, I cant remember what its called right now but if anyones interested drop me a PM. The module allows the administrator to set 'Default' settings for new courses, this allows me to give more staff course creator abilities but also allows me to cut down the course setings page for staff as all the default settings i apply disappear from the settings screen for staff. The settings are category based so i cant set courses up by default for each subject area and subject areas ICT ability. As they ask questions I allow them to control more and more settings to logically solve there problems rather than me doing it for them,
Ryan_C Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Module for managing creative writing tasks. Has several features that are particularly useful such as templates and a unique editor that minimises distractions. Focuspad :: Moodle module - Creative writing at it's best See an example of how it is being used here.
Ryan_C Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Module for creating and managing todo lists. May be run in several different modes: Single - each person gets a single todo list Personal - each person may set up as many lists as they like for themselves Team - teachers/ managers may create lists and assign people to them Course - a single list for the entire course or group Social - anyone may create a list and invite people to join Great for encouraging planning and collaboration as well as allowing teachers to keep track of how people are progressing. Grab it here.
gshaw Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 So far... - Lightbox Gallery - Moodle Google - Wikipedia Search - Microsoft Live Services - PLP (personal learning plan) Also looking at... - NanoGong (narration) and a few others that escape me at the moment. I've also used the addthis social bookmarking code in an HTML block which is a nice addon as well for public pages. 1
