Our Head of Computing has just asked me if I know of any IT qualifications he can deliver in place of Cambridge Nations IT, it does not have to be progress 8 and we are hoping to deliver this to our lower ability students.

You said that it doesn't have to be Progress 8, but don't mention if it has to be awarded UCAS point, etc...

Have you looked into:

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) also known as International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL)

IC3 - https://prodigylearning.com/academic/internet-computing-core-certification

MOS - https://prodigylearning.com/academic/microsoft-office-specialist

BTEC Level 1 qualifications for IT Users - https://qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/btec-entry-level-level-1-and-level-1-introductory/level-1.html

We offered the ECDL qualification until recently and it went quite well. The students that wanted to pass the course passed it, no matter what their ability was due to the way the course was structured. Unfortunately some students didn't like the course so didn't take it seriously and failed the course.

On the whole the students that did the course properly definitely learned something and improved their skill set.
