Pinning Sharepoint page to left sidebar as an app

Morning all

 

Just trying to test the waters with extra things in Teams, one of those being trying to pin a Sharepoint site (i.e our intranet page) to the left sidebar alongside the other pinned apps inside Teams. My idea is that a user clicks the app and there's a tab there featuring the desired Sharepoint site.

 

In my head this would involve creating a custom app and then deploying it to Teams, but just wondered if anyone has done anything like this successfully?
