loucoll-Dave Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Hi We are running out of space fast so we need to come up with a enterprise storage solution for 10tb + needs to beable to auto compress/encode media files. Does anyone have any idea's?
DrBeaker Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 What kind of price/budget have you been allocated for this out of interest? We're in a similar and even on a modest NAS we're looking at a couple of grand at least
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 How about a refurb server running FreeNas? Can pop some decent ram in there, couple of 8 core processors and either 4 x 1gb RJ45 or 2 x 10gb SFP+ Definitely less than a couple of grand too!
loucoll-Dave Posted February 26, 2020 Author Posted February 26, 2020 @mhaddock no limit given, our 2 main sans are 120tb with 10tb + of media files I know you can use hand brake but that's only at folder level so you could imagine how much of a headache this is causing. @ICTDirect_Dave is this what you run?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Not what I run, but I've sold a lot of similar systems to schools. We provide the hardware. You set it up with the software that does the job you want
bald_pig Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 G Suite for Education provides unlimited free cloud storage for schools, Combine it with Drive File stream and everything is accessible through a drive letter like it's a network share.
