Windows 10 1909 Performance

For testing I have upgraded 2 computers from 1803 to 1090 through windows update.

Computer specs are i7, SSD and 8gb ram.

On both performance is sluggish and computer seems a lot slower when opening programs etc.

I'm yet to do a clean install on a computer to see how that performs but for now I will be delaying the upgrade as some pcs are of lower spec.

 

Has anyone else experienced this?

Silly question, have you updated the drivers on the upgraded systems? Not just the updates device manager sometimes finds, but updates from the OEM? I had a couple of our i5 Lenovo machines struggling till I updated from Lenovo.

There are no newer drivers on the website for the machine.

I have moved most of our PC's to 1909 and noticed it was slow at first until I put all the latest updates on.

No issues except the odd network driver so I just installed a another PCiE network card just cheap ones for those that were having the issue.

These PC's are:

Stone Desktops, Core i3s 4GB RAM 250GB SSD's they are 8 years old now, not bad really.

Was the network issue where machines were dropping off the network, losing network access mid-use and hacing to reboot the machine to bring back online?? We had this issue with a specific motherboard but disabling task offload resolved that rather than buying new NICs, but again the machines are 7-8 years old.

Similar but still the pc wouldn't come back online after reboot, the only way to get it back was to uninstall via device manager which they can't do, so cheap cards was my answer.

7-8 years old is young in my book.

We had same issue on older Stone PCs. Updating the firmware of the NIC itself resolved the issue, but we still had some that persisted - a BIOS update resolved this (but not to the latest version as this has known issues also).
