karldenton Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Hello, When users go into C:/Docs & Settings/username they see there own documents but the folder says bradburya's documents. This occurs on every PC. Also in MS Office, it seems to think its registered to bradburya (who is a user on the network) even if we type something else into the install. Any ideas where its getting this information from? Thanks Karl
karldenton Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 Thanks, do you mean the server OS installation? It does it on new machines when they are joined to the domain.
srochford Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 It should be picking up the name from desktop.ini in the my docs folder (it's a hidden file) 1
SYNACK Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 It should be picking up the name from desktop.ini in the my docs folder (it's a hidden file) I never knew that it was specified in there, brings about all sorts of interesting possibilities (why is their no evil grin smiley, it would be so appropriate on this forum)
karldenton Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) Hi, Had a look on the desktop.ini of several users documents in C:/documents and settings. In the Owner= it says owner=bradburya. However, the line above is [deleteoncopy], which should mean when it copies the profile it doesn't copy that line. Edited May 22, 2008 by karldenton forgot some info
Michael Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 This is completely normal behaviour. As already mentioned, it's picking up the information from the user profile. There's nothing to worry about, but I do see your point
