BrookSBM Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 We have a Net2 installation across our site and are working on self-installing some additions. It is all working well so far. However, whereas all our existing doors use Maglocks (easy to wire in) we have a an application where we need to use electric "drop bolt" mortise locks which have the following connections: Red = +12V Black = Power Ground White = COM Yellow = NC The red and black are self explanatory but I am struggling to work out which connections the WHITE and YELLOW need to be connected into on the Paxton Net2 Door Controller to make it all work. The lock lights up with an LED showing power, but fails to operate. Don't want to spend too long trying White and Yellow in different terminals in case I fry something! Can anyone help from their experience please? Many thanks.
ChrisH Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 If white is common and you only have a "Normally Closed" connection then I would imagine that completing white to yellow would fire the bolt. Get a power supply from Science and use that to test, rather than testing through the controller if you are not confident.
Chris_Cook Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I'd agree with ChrisH. Connecting the White and yellow terminals together should either lock or unlock the lock. Most locks will unlock when you break this connection, as this is safest. Your best bet is to power the lock and then briefly connect these two terminals together and see what happens. If this works, then you will want to wire these two terminals to the Com and NC terminals on the relay 1 port on your controller. There may already be a link from NC to 0v on the Paxton controller and this should be removed. If that works backwards, then connect the wire from NC on the lock to NO on the controller. You will also need to work out if this is a fire door that's released with a fire alarm relay, and if you should have a green break-glass on this door.
