maxrebo Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 We have a bit of money in the pot for CPD, i`m looking at possibly studying and sitting a Microsoft Exam, What would be the best one currently to go for at this time? Would it be best to stick with the Server exams or look at cloud based exams such as Office 365 or Azure? We use Windows Server 2016 and Office 365 currently
Mark182 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 We are studying for the Exam MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals at the moment. It seems a good starting place. Here is a good place to check out what certification path to take to meet your requirements. 1
Norphy Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I would think about things in the following order: 1) What are you most interested in? 2) What would be the most useful for you in your career development and in your current role? 3) What would be the most useful for your organisation? You don't say anything about your role or what you do day in, day out so it's hard to make recommendations as to what to study. 1
mikkydoos Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I'd stuff MS and do a Cisco cert. I reckon It would be much more valuable in the long run.
HPlum78 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I have an issue with that statement @mikkydoos as the op has asked for the best MS exam not about the best none MS exam unless Cisco have started writing content for MS products? Like @norpy has said it really depends on what you see yourself getting into, and where you are on you chosen path. Azure/ M365 certification would not be a bad thing to look at but if the cloud (Azure) is not on your horizon anytime soon then admin certifications are a good way to go. Most importantly choose something that you are interested in as Hello World stops most people from going any further. (if you have been doing this as long as i have that will mean something to you!)
maxrebo Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks everyone for your views, I agree it has to be something that I`m interested in, I think that`s going to be the Office 365 route as previously mentioned, I really want to gain more knowledge in that field, and I administer our Office 365 Tenanvy on a daily basis. @mikkydoos I`d rather not go down the Cisco route, I`ve done a few of the CCNA modules and I didn't really enjoy it, plus I`d rather do something that I use on a Daily basis in my job.
