Hi folks,

I'm trying to create a class group of all students in a year group so we can have that group appear in Show My Homework.

Our SIMS admin says that the class groups have to be created in the timetabling software (Nova) and cannot be created in SIMS itself.

Just checking if there are any SIMS gurus out there who know if that's correct? Is there absolutely no way just to use SIMS to create a class group?

Thanks

In SIMS you can create User Defined Groups (Focus - Groups - User Defined Groups - New) but you normally have to add students one at a time, equally if you have Discover you can create Groups quite easily which can be accessed in SIMS. Whether these can be exported to Show My Homework I couldn't tell you as I do not have anything to do with that.

I use both Nova T and SMHW and you do need the class groups to be created in Nova-T so that it mirrors across to SMHW. If it helps, any groups set up in the alternative curriculum also show in SMHW and they are quicker to set up but just a pain to populate in SIMS.

It transpires there's been an update to SMHW, so now it's relatively easy to select multiple classes for a particular piece of homework (select one class, then add the next (two clicks) etc.). So problem is pretty much solved for now.

Thanks for confirming though that it's a Nova change.
