Symantec Web Security - Not letting me allow a site!

Stupid stupid piece of software, I'm trying to let the kids go to http://www.mindbodysoul.gov.uk which is in the "Drugs/Non-medical" list. Drugs/Non-medical is denied on our system so i've made an allow list and added this site to it then added the allow list to the "Allow

(Filtering Disabled)" category.

I still can't get it to let the kids access it, I think thats because it's still set to deny any sites in Drugs/Non-medical, any ideas on how to get sites in a denied list to be allowed?

The order of filtering on SWS is as follows:

Is it in the banned lists? yes? then block it.

Is it in the allow (filter enabled) lists? Yes? then ignore the above and allow it through, but make sure it gets the dictionary checks.

Is it in the allo (filtering disabled) lists? Yes? Bloody hell ... anyone should be able to access it!

What release are you running of SWS? I am sure there was a build from 12 months ago that had to wait for the update before allowing changes on any lists.

I have always found the SWS needs to have things run through methodically when it buggers up.

First create a virtual user and give then allo (filter disabled) access to everything apart from the drugs/non-medical (which is in denied). Check the site ... then move it to filter enabled ... and then filter disabled.

Which one works best?

Another trick to try is to restart the service, forcing it to reload the lists. On some flavours of unix the lists get locked / corrupted and needed to be cleaned or replaced on a regular basis ... only seen it once or twice on W2K and never on server 2003, but I suppose anything is possible.
