Had a quick read up again as someone asked for it today, looks like the adult content *should* be gone but still looks like there's some potential issues around the platform e.g. the views shared here https://smartsocial.com/what-is-tumblr-parent-teacher-guide/ Has anyone changed their approach to allowing \ blocking it over the past couple of months?

Art and Media courses I think want to use it either as a resource page or for creating blogs etc. Perhaps viewing others' creative content too? This is at FE 16-18 level btw

Oh wow, that site is bloody awful. Not Tumblr (that isn't great) but that smartsocial thing. Head in sand stuff from start to finish. It's very indifferent to other similar sites such as pintrest, imgur, deviantart etc and shares the same sort of rules but all allow some degree of adult content - the ban isn't so much in hosting it but sharing it. Education should be used more than the banstick in this instance; there's a lot of good content on all these sites and blocking them all means all those lovely creative people are limited to the wonderful world of stock photography. 1
Opendium_Steve Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Tumblr *claim* to be porn-free these days, but a quick Google search will show you there's still loads of porn hosted on Tumblr. Its impossible for any filter to accurately identify and block the porn. You could poke holes for specific Tumblr blogs that you know are ok. If you allow the whole site, do so with the knowledge that you're allowing access to porn (which may be ok of course - do a risk assessment, figure out what mitigation steps you can take, etc.)
