Microsoft Flow

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone has been using Microsoft Flow to do anything exciting, I have just started playing with it creating flows to email our helpdesk and admin teams when someone fills out a new starter and leaver Microsoft Form.

I've got it set up with Forms for our staff absence/holiday.

User fills out the form, info is sent to their manager then the relevant SLT as an approval email. If approved the original user and HR/cover manager gets a message and the absence is put on a shared calendar.

Also have a couple set up to do "out of office" replies for email groups.

 

The starter/leaver thing sounds good, I might have to look into that one.

Just been playing with this too. We're a G Suite school but I've been toying with O365 during the lockdown with a view to getting ready to use in some capacity. I can see massive potential for using Flow for all sorts of things, particularly as it has lots of connectors for Google services.

 

One thing I've set up with it is an email alert if certain other emails are received as expected within a time period. Specifically, if no new emails arrive in my "Backup reports" label in Gmail within a set number of hours, it'll send an email to my inbox to basically say "Have you noticed that you've not been getting any backup reports?". It's a bit like a canary: alerting me to something that hasn't occurred.

I have been using flows to add new users.

Our exchange is in Azure, so have connected flow to a form for Admin, so that as a new user joins it auto creates school 365 account, email and licensing. Am just awaiting for MS to create the ability to add new users to groups via flow.

(Have also played with 'Alexa' and can see how to do this using Alexa telling her to add new User - this is more fun than functional, her spelling can be atrocious)

We are currently looking at an HR Flow.

Have you played with Power Apps?

Being an SEN school, teachers and ta's use a lot of temp items such as buttons, iPads, microphones, headphones etc etc, having a power app to keep track of this stuff, and to allow users to login into to see what they currently have against there name is a useful resource.

I am having a problem with matching data types in a Microsoft Automated Flow because it seems to ignore the number data type.

 

We have created a successful flow which matches the data that is entered from a jotform UI/UX. Then the flow enters the information successfully into a Microsoft List row. Everything is fine and we tested it with a small amount of the data. Afterwards, I went ahead and started adding files and matching them with the incoming data.

 

The problem is noticed when I started to enter number fields instead of short strings. Look at the screen shot I am including. The values for Total TIme and "Flight time last 12 months" had no corresponding data type and the only difference between these and the other fields is the fact that these two fields are numbers and the others are short strings.
