GPO settings for custom Windows startup screen / lock screen

Hi everyone,

 

What would be the best way to get a custom background for the Windows start screen (currently that cave picture) and the lock screen?

 

I see various places to do this in Global policy but which is the right place to do it?

Same as above, our lock screen image is saved in Netlogon.

The last question I have is where I set proxy settings? There seems to be various places. I’m looking to set the proxy for everyone that logs on.

I use:

User Configuration > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Internet Settings

 

In there you can create multiple settings and target them to specific groups using item-level targetting. Alternatively you can have one policy for all users or separate policies for different groups. I have separated it out to three individual GPOs, for staff, students and admin. The reason is because this policy also contains my Google Chrome GPOs, IE settings and other Internet related settings that need to be different for the three main user groups and they don't support item-level targetting.

I think this feature is restricted to Enterprise or EDU versions of Windows though.

Can also been done using registry keys. Set to Replace.
