mattx Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Before I jump in and start creating some excel spreadsheets on how our switches are setup - [ floor socket to patch panel, patch panel to switch etc ] I was wondering if anyone has already done this and if so what sort of spread sheet or package would be suitable...? Anyone know of any templates ? I am not talking about network diagrams here, just good old boring this floor port goes to this patch panel socket, this patch panel socket goes to this switch socket etc etc.....
plexer Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 There is a software package that will do this but I can't for the life of me think what it is googling patch management just brings up software patch management software. Ben
plexer Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Think it was this: PatchMaker but not updated in 3 years so probably no good. Ben 1
enjay Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I've got this in Excel too, but it isn't great. I'm thinking of asking one of next year's GCSE ICT students to re-design it for me as their database project. That, or I'll actually draw out pictures of the switches and patch panels and label them that way.
mattx Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 Thanks for the link to patchmaker - I'll give it a go...
SYNACK Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I've just put all of this into a little sql database, no front end yet but I know SQL so its fine for me
