mattfuller Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Hi, We rolled out the SIMS Autumn 2019 Update (7.190.31.0) on Monday Evening it mostly went well, but we have had a couple of users who have been experiencing incompatible database issues, but it is only affecting that one user on that one machine so when I log onto the machine it is fine or if they log into a different machine it is fine. I have tried redeploying from solus, reinstalling manually and removing the users cached profile from the machine itself. Any ideas at all would be appreciated, Thanks, Matt
Reboot_IT Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Have you deleted their user folder in the C Drive or fully removed all traces of their profile? I usually use Delprof for this.
mattfuller Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) I removed their profile through the system info > System Properties window then removed any folders that were left in the C Drive. I have never used DelProf before Edited January 8, 2020 by mattfuller
bald_pig Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I've seen sims updates leave 2 versions of sims on a machine, one in program files and one in program files (x86). I've seen shortcuts not updated so they are launching the old version before. 1
mattfuller Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) can't believe it.... there is 2 versions on the machines do you know a) why it would do that, and b) how to make it install under x86 or at least make it so that all machines install in the same place? that is really going to mess with the shared start menu... TwistedHelixis Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Is the machine a laptop that sometimes connects over LAN and sometimes WiFI? if so that can cause more than one version to get installed.
mattfuller Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 Is the machine a laptop that sometimes connects over LAN and sometimes WiFI? if so that can cause more than one version to get installed. no, the machines that have been affected are all desktops with a LAN connection

In SOLUS3 Deployment UI > Environment > Configure Workstations > SIMS Installation Set to "Specify Different Location" and then SIMS Installation Path of "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net" (default). We have this set so that on any machine, it will always be in Program Files so no start menu shortcuts are messed up. 1
bald_pig Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 In SOLUS3 Deployment UI > Environment > Configure Workstations > SIMS Installation Set to "Specify Different Location" and then SIMS Installation Path of "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net" (default). We have this set so that on any machine, it will always be in Program Files so no start menu shortcuts are messed up. This, and SOLUS ignores where an existing install was, so if sims was installed manually to the default folder it goes in (x86), solus then comes along and "updates" it by installing in the specified folder "program files"
bobsmith Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 especially fun when you have a mixed environment of 32bit and 64bit windows
