hyper v move errors

hi all

 

I have been having quite a few issues with my host that is running hyper v, I am seeing lost of issues with checkpoint and servers not able to create checkpoints or they can merger but I have a more pressing issues that I cant seem to move any of the virtual machines to a new host as the current one needs to be replaced I have attached a screenshot, any help would be great as I have been working on this for a month without any success.

Check the event viewer for a login failure at the same time as the attempted move.

Have you tried shutting down the virtual Machine and manually copy the virtual machine files and virtual hard drive to the new host you want to move it to then importing the VM?

In the past I have had to use Windows backup to move the VM's to a new host as nothing else worked.

 

If it was me I would try to get the checkpoint issue sorted first as that might be part of the migration issue.

I also found that 'pushing' a VM from the host containing it currently works while 'pulling' from the new host doesn't. Worth trying it the other way.

If it’s a standalone host is the host actually part of the domain? If not you’ll need to add permissions for the host to host migration as they won’t have the credentials to migrate (aka does ace and jack have separate admin passwords etc etc)

 

Also have you checked that the VMs actually have permission to act as a service? If VMMS is having a wobble it won’t always update it

 

Check if NT Virtual Machine\Virtual Machines is included in the log on as service gpo settings

hi guys i did create a group for this (NT Virtual Machine\Virtual Machines) as veeam was complaining about it, but the issues was fixed with 2 things 1 i removed the virtual dvd drive and second i did a gp update on the new server.
