Power Bi Staff Costs

Evening all, and an early happy new year to you. Just wondered if anyone can advise me on working out the cost per lesson for teaching staff on Power Bi. I've think I have confused myself. I thought it would be "total staff cost" divided by "lesson teaching hours". Is that right? We have the added complication that our lessons are 50 minutes long. The cost is coming out per lesson in the thousands! Does that sound right?? Any thoughts welcome, as always.

If a full time teacher costs £35,000 a year you can divide that by 1265 (their total working hours) to get their hourly rate. A teachers full day is 6.5 hours.

 

So by my maths unless I am missing the point.

 

35000 / 1265 gets you the hourly rate. £27.67

 

27.67 / 60 * 50. £23.06 for a 50 minute lesson.

 

This is very rough as there will be paid holiday entitlement so you could add that to 1265, which becomes 1447.

 

Edit: There will be TP and NI costs too.

If you do the maths without PowerBI involvement do they make sense?

 

I speculate you may have something like total staff cost as a large figure of all teachers (maybe you also have non teachers in the figure need to check if you want that), but does your total teaching hours reflect the number of taught lessons concurrently?

 

Ie. It's a five lesson day (crude maths not including ppa etc) so five hours per teacher.

 

But if you have 50x concurrent lessons your figure would be 5*50 because they are all teaching hours.

 

Hard to know without insight into the spreadsheet the SBM has provided, they are probably best placed to help you understand the figures before feeding it into PowerBI.
