Hi

1. We have installed Google Play on the staff Chromebooks and now installed our A1 plus for Facility licensed version of Office 365 (Chrome OS), the school uses Google Drive and doesn't wish to use OneDrive (I have a separate post open for this OneDrive issue), this is about not being able to create new documents in Office (Word, Excel etc) on the Google drive as the new page doesn't give Google Drive as an option. I can open existing documents but creating new ones and saving as, doesn't give us the option to save to the Google drive, just locally or the Onedrive or a choice of online storage such as drop box but no Google drive. This actually results in Office being unusable on the Chromebook, if you want to use Google Drive. Spoke to Microsoft and they in a round about way do not know, the support on Chromebooks has been lacking here.

Do any of you guys use the full offline Chrome OS version and Google Drive? How do you have this running ?

2. How can you open Gdocs etc with Office ? How do you change it so it does ?

3. We don't seem to have the printer displayed in Microsoft Office apps that we can print too in Chrome and Google Apps. This printer is shared via Google Chrome on the server by adding and sharing it in Google Admin, however this doesn't seem carry across to non Google Apps it seems ? How do you guys share your Windows Printers etc and print from Chrome OS Apps on the Chromebook ?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Ok we got this working, seems to be picked up in office, but Microsoft Office on Chromebook defaults to letter instead of A4 each time, doesn't seem to be away of changing this. I dont think Microsoft Office is actually usable or easily on the Chromebooks, having too many steps to do anything or not able to do certain simple procedures.

Anyone have any more insight on any of this and the above.

Thanks.

I'll have a play next week. I'm away this weekend, but I have a Chromebook at home and have extensively used Word, Excel and PowerPoint Android apps without noticing anything terrible. I've been using them so long that I might just have become accustomed to any problems. Edited by jmak

Thanks, we are having several issues in the Chrome OS / Chromebook versions of Office:

1. Printing default to Letter always

2. Onedrive always wants to be the default cannot disable (We use Google Drive)

3. Google Drive inst available in the New, Save As dialogue windows.

Actually leaves it very cumbersome or unusable, surely others are seeing these problems....

Cheers
