Apple Schools Manager and VPP apps transfer?

We are now using Apple Schools Manager for app purchases and deployment with Jamf which works very well.

 

We have a lot of paid for apps purchased using VPP, is possible to transfer the apps from VPP to Apples Schools Manager?

You need to invite your VPP user into ASM.

 

Settings > Enrollment Information > Scroll down > Invite VPP facilitator.

 

However we were warned by Apple (on a support call about another issue) that we had to revoke all our VPP licenses for paid apps from users in our MDM before inviting the user into ASM, then download the new .stoken from ASM and upload into MDM, then re-invite users and re-issue licenses.

 

Users have 30 days grace between revoking the license and the app disappearing from their devices, so as long as they re-enroll and you resend them the new license then the app won't disappear.

 

I'm not convinced the revoke/reissue was necessary as i'm sure it would have been much more prominent in the upgrade notes if it was, but we did as we were warned.
