Hi all,

Not sure if everyone has seen this:

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00092491en_us

We have a couple of servers that are included in the scope of this issue, but need to find out the model numbers of the hard drives to make sure that I install the right firmware version. Is there a software way to find what hard drives I have, as I would rather not have to shut down the servers to remove the hard drives to find the model numbers?

I have checked device manager, HPE System Management, Sysinfo etc. but nothing.

Cheers

I've one affected drive in my SAN, but even though the unit is still under warranty we have no active support contract...thus we have no entitlement to download the fix !!

WTAF?

Plus looking at the SSD firmware update, its all packaged around updating a drive in a server, not a SAN!

Anyone know what the actual firmware file is called?

Oh? I am able to download all the updated firmware without having to prove I have an entitlement.

Sorry should of said, I have the SSD firmware as a windows exe (but can't run that on a SAN) but wanted to update the Storage Array FW at the same time....which is linked to an entitlement....

Just wanted to bring this back to the top of the forum to save anyone else a headache. Check your HP gear now! We have just fallen foul of this. 4 drives all gone at the same time, having to rebuild SAN from scratch.

Absolutely gutted I didn't notice this article before.

Anyone know their consumer rights inside out? Our San is 8 months out of its 3 year warranty. We have to completely replace the drives and will be paying consultancy to help get up and running again. HP have offered to fix the drives but it will take 6 weeks and they can't garuentee the SAN will rebuild from that so pretty useless!

It seems mad these ticking time bombs are inside our enterprise equipment and HP only effort to let people know is a message deep in there website!
