Pyroman Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 RGFL are shutting their doors on 31st March 2020 (nice to have loads of notice! ) so we're looking at finally 'going it alone' (which I've actually been toying with for a few years now anyway) Need some recommendations please, we are currently sat on a VDSL 80/20 connection from the LA apparently. We're going to need a new ISP - recommendations please (I use schoolsbroadband at another site but they seem extremely expensive) We're also losing access to the LA's O365 - Migrate to GSuite Education or O365 (discuss!) SIMS we're licensed through the LA so I'm assuming that's a ring Capita job and buy a new license/support package. Cheers
FishCustard Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I imagine your SIMS license is unconnected to the RBC - you should be able to stay on that contract with the LA. I'd recommend moving to your own Office 365 - no reason to force everyone to learn a new system.
EdTech-Tom Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) Echoing what FishCustard said, It's unlikely your Broadband is tied to your SIMS license, unless you're in a convoluted multi-product SLA. If you do have to get a new Capita license I believe the pricing via the LA and the pricing from Capita may be different. Edited November 28, 2019 by elsiegee40 Advertising removed by Mods
Pyroman Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 Sorry just to clarify, ALL services we recieve through the LA are ceasing, that's offsite backups, E-mail, broadband, filtering, SIMS is an extra we pay for via the LA, etc etc.

Chuckster Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 You don't have to lose access to O365 - tell the LA to hand over the tenancy agreement to the school.
Wave9_Lee Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Hi Pyroman , Short notice indeed - ref broadband, not too bad if you plan to stay with an VDSL connection though. If you'd like some pricing, drop me a PM or contact me using the details below, happy to chat. cheers Lee 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 @Pyroman I'm surprise we've come out as expensive. Perhaps you're on one of our old prices as they've reduced quite a bit from 3-4 years ago. We've already a number of schools in and around Rotherham. I believe we can also do Dark Fibre from CityFibre in that area too as well as GPON services in the future. Thanks Dave 1
