Morning,

 

I'm currently running Exchange 2010 SP3 on a 2008 box. I have setup Exchange 2016 on a 2016 box. I have migrated a test mailbox from the old server to the new one.

 

- If I try to log in to the old server using the account I have migrated, after entering the username and password it comes up with a message saying I'd be better off using the URL of the new server. Lovely!

- If I try to log in to the new server using the account I have migrated, all works as it should.

- If I try to log in to the new server using an account which hasn't been migrated, I get an Error 500.

 

I can send and receive emails to and from mailboxes wherever they are. What is my next step to get me able to log in to either server without error? Is there a way of auto-forwarding the login process to the correct server depending on where the mailbox is? And ultimately, how do I make the new server the main frontend/send and receive server? Obviously this is a live environment at the moment so I'm a little twitchy about making too many changes!

My first question is always: is your old Exchange server on the latest CU?

 

I've never used 2010 so not too sure on the behaviour in this environment. In 2013 you could access mailboxes from either server, using the user interface of the mailbox host.
