So currently I am using a Surface Pro 2017 and looking for an upgrade.

Can’t decide to get a a newer Surface or Surface Laptop? I tent to be more mobile now and the keyboard on a laptop would be more solid.

Any opinions on the following:

Surface Pro 7

Surface Pro X

Surface Laptop 3

Surface Laptop 2

Surface Book 2

Surface Book 2 + 1 if in budget

Microsoft's not hanging around for Black Friday 2019 and Cyber Monday 2019, as it's cut an absolutely incredible £630 off the Surface Book 2

Do you find the surface book when detached too big to hold if you was standing and inking during a presentation?

Surface Laptop is probably the best Windows laptop on the market currently, baring if you need a GPU obviously.

lightweight, reasonably powerful and great keyboard! If i were a Windows user i'd have one instead of me MacBook.

Got the new Surface laptop 3 a couple of weeks ago, after upgrading from a Surface Pro 2016 (battery life was dwindling fast).

Went into John Lewis (i think it was), and had a play with surface, surface laptop and surface book before deciding which to get.

Opted for the Laptop. So much better in every way, keyboard is solid, and no stand to mess about with at the back. Sits nicely on your lap for those moments your sat in a tight space. Rarely used the surface on its own as a tablet, and didn't end up writing on it either so opted for the laptop instead this time around. Increase in screen size is a big plus as well, only when you start using it compared to the old surface do you appreciate those extra inches.

Super slim, and light weight.

Biggest difference though - Battery life!!!! Have the usual power save modes turned on etc. for while i'm away from the screen to do whatever and I got two days out of it without a charge. (probably 10 hours actual usage typing etc).

Had a play with a couple of laptops the other day in store and I felt the 13.5" Surface Laptop 3 was the best device out at the moment. Build quality is spot on and the 3:2 aspect screen, keyboard and trackpad all seem really good. Handy having touchscreen functionality as well.

They can start getting pretty expensive you you want the higher spec devices with more RAM/SSD Storage though. I can't see many folk being happy with the 128Gb SSD in the £900 base spec option and if you want the more usable next level 256Gb it's another £250! Also the USB C port on it doesn't have Thunderbolt 3 support which is quite limiting if you want to use the device docked on a desk connected to a bunch of other devices. In that case you're kind of forced into buying the Microsoft Surface dock connector for ~£150.

Still probably the device I'd buy if I were after a new laptop though!
