HDMI over ethernet through router to Sky box

Hi all,

 

At home, my sky cables are in one corner of the room, but my TV etc are on the other side. See diagram below.

 

 

I am getting a sky box and was wondering if its possible to run HDMI over ethernet, or HDMI over Power. At the moment I have a router which goes to a POE adapter to the other side of the room to another POE adapter to a switch and that dishes out to the Amazon TV box, CCTV box etc.

 

Due to the layout and our belongings we have to have the room in this layout.

You can get HDMI over Ethernet adapters, usually hit about 13.7mbps bandwidth. We have a load of Vision kit for our digital signage/projectors for when we have parents’ eve. Shows videos over it fine.

You can get HDMI over power modules (https://www.avforums.com/review/vision-tc2-hdmip-hdmi-over-powerline-review.12630).

 

Can do 1920x1080 at 60Hz but nothing above that.

You can get wireless HDMI kits on Amazon. It would of course be much more reliable to use a wire but you would have to use trunking or clip the wire to the wall which wouldn't look great.

I know not what you asked but can you run a hdmi cable behind the coving or skirting at all? Never tested the hdmi over wireless personally but I also prefer cabled.

I agree. If there's a carpet in there you might be able to tuck it under the carpet along the edges. If you can get under the downstairs floor maybe go under to run the cable that way.

You can also get flat hdmi cables. If you can get the carpet up might be a help ?

Thanks for all the messages. Unfortunately it is a rental place so do not want to do any drilling etc. Also it is laminate flooring all over.

I guess a cheap wireless kit is the best choice in this situation if you definitely can't change the setup. Where did the wires go previously?
