School policies - online policymanagement system/website/other...?

My business manager has asked about setting up our school policies on this website, so he can track who has read them etc.:

Are the claims they make justified?

 

"An automated system which reduces the stress, risk and burden of school policy management."

 

Does anyone else use this sort of procedure?

 

Or are they just on your website/intranet/big folder in an office?

 

I'm a bit concerned with this line....

 

"The staff member clicks a link in the email and then logs in to the system with the same username and password that they use to access their school computer."

 

How does that work then?

The answer to who's read school policies is always: no one, not even the people who wrote and signed off on them (they just C&P'd someone else's)

 

Given I can't see anyone online who's used it, or reviewed it, except for one sponsored blog post in 2017, probably not worth it.

 

Either they sync PWs to their site (bad), or use OAuth (good but requires setup, although nowadays 90% of schools must have o365 or gsuite logins), or LDAP (probably bad and means they're not good enough at computers to use OAuth)

There is a difference, as mavhc said, between opening a policy and someone actually reading it.

 

Personally, I think there are better things you can spend you money on. Getting policy reviews scheduled and ready for ratification by governors requires a spreadsheet, nothing more.

 

If staff sign something to say they have a read a policy, or the latest version of Keeping Children Safe In Education (which they all must), then it’s their own job at stake if they haven’t actually done so and thus fail to abide by the policy.

Not sure-- trying to find out. It was first bought as a premises help desk, then some e-learning, now policies. IT weren't involved in the purchase so trying to get the numbers out of people is difficult....

Really annoying when you're paying for something, and they spend the money on adding stuff you don't want instead of fixing the things you do want. Looking at you Parago. Much better to just pay someone to add the feature you want.
