Has anybody else been experiencing issues with Chrome since yesterday? We've had numerous reports from Chrome users across site that it is only displaying a white page. Minimizing the window and maximizing it again seems to kick it into life until you refresh or go to another URL at which point it goes white again. It's not a huge problem at the moment since they have Edge and Firefox at their disposal. We've tried updating Chrome and there have been no policy changes or Windows updates installed. It's almost as though it stopped working overnight.

We've had some success with this:

Log on as Admin

%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\

Rename/Delete the default folder, delprof and then test.

Can I just confirm an issue I've just seen is the one you are having?

Open chrome multiple startup tabs open, ours are mail/local intranet etc all look to have loaded but the page remains white, open a new tab and any subsequent new tabs open and appear as normal.

Cheers

Very similar although in our case the new tabs remain white too. Only once minimized and then maximized does it appear to return to normal. However as soon as you refresh or attempt to go elsewhere it goes white again.

We have got the same issue. But one thing I noticed that not all users are facing this problem. The users who have saved their login credentials for different websites are getting the white pages.

Could it be this?

Google Chrome experiment crashes browser tabs, impacts companies worldwide

A Google Chrome experiment has gone horribly wrong this week and ended up crashing browsers on thousands, if not more, enterprise networks for nearly two days.

Chrome engineers operate a system called Finch that lets them push updated Chrome settings to active installs, such as enabling or disabling experimental flags.

If the fix has not reached all impacted users, and they still have problems, they can disable the following two experimental flags by hand:

chrome://flags/#web-contents-occlusion
chrome://flags/#calculate-native-win-occlusion

An alternative method to fixing this is to start Google Chrome with the following command-line argument:

--disable-backgrounding-occluded-windows

We had this issue today and I noticed that the PC had SMART Ink installed and running. I remember that we had a very similar issue several years ago with SMART Ink interfering with IE in the same way so I uninstalled it and it worked fine afterwards.

As the reports seem to be widespread I would imagine the problem is a graphics issue with overlay applications rather than being specific to SMART so it'd be worth checking if you have similar programs running.
