Cruzjr Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 We are locking down the C: drive in Win10 1809 ENT. We allow FULL CONTROL to %userprofile%\Documents, Downloads, Desktop, Picture and Favorites. However GPMC directs to the following path: C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile. How can we edit the paths to point to %userprofile%\Desktop instead in GPMC ? Screenshot attached.
DJ-1701 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Are you running the Modelling against just the system there, and not specified the user? Those directories are for the system accounts, if you select a user as well for the Modelling, what do you get?
ComboSmith Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Not sure what you're trying to achieve here. Can't you just use a folder redirection policy to redirect the desktop to the userprofile?
Cruzjr Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) GOAL: Users on Win10 ENTERPRISE systems can ONLY write to 5 folders in their userprofile: Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Favorites and Pictures. I have removed from File Explorer 3D Objects, Music and Videos from being displayed via registry. With a GPO, we want to limit users rights to write/create/modify ANYWHERE outside those 5 folders. System, Applications, Creator Owner and Administrators still have FULL CONTROL. We will then proceed to do (ata later date) redirect/sync those folders to OneDrive. Edited November 18, 2019 by Cruzjr
ComboSmith Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 I'm still not sure what you want to do. If you want to direct the desktop to the C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop folder you can use a folder redirection user policy
