GAL showing all student email addresses - how to seperate them?

Hi all,

 

The DPO wants to separate student and staff email addresses in the GAL.

 

I understand I can create a new Address List for each, but the GAL will still show all users in all address lists.

 

I could create a new GAL with just staff, but this will completely remove students from it.

 

Is there a way to cleanly do this?

We used this guide previously to setup a different GAL for students, and apply it to their mailbox policy as we create their accounts

Not a solution but I wanted to ask the reasoning behind the request? Here students need to be able to email their teachers and teachers need to email the students. They are all official school email addresses so I don't see why the DPO would want to separate them.

In our case @fiza, we kept the teaching staff listed in the student GAL, but removed all the support staff addresses.

 

Doesn't stop them typing our details in, but helps keeps the governors addresses away from them.
