Gmail randomly sending out old emails

I know this sounds ridiculous, but one of my staff members has reported that gmail sent out a bunch of old emails last night shortly after her iPad updated to IOS13. I can see the emails in the Gmail logs, and many were sent to now defunct email addresses but a handful did reach the recipient.

 

Has anyone else experienced this? It's a bit of a weird one!

Probably stuck in the outbox and then the update triggered some kind of release.

is there anyway I can check if other's have emails stuck in their outbox?

This is weird. I had a student come in yesterday with the same issue. She had about 6 emails from last year that re-sent themselves again. There wasn't much I could do but I said it's possible they where stuck in your outbox but also seems odd as she's been emailing fine for the last year so why suddenly send them now? The gmail logs showed that the emails where sent at 3:30 in the morning when she was asleep. Possibly when the iPad updated itself? Wasn't really any troubleshooting I could do.

Seems to be something to do with the IOS13 update and gmail. Not sure if it's an apple or gmail issue.

That is the same thread I found, but it is very odd, and I've just sent out updates to 350 iPads, so I am expected mayhem today!

Could it be a date issue and something has got confused on a restart and thinks some emails are new

 

then other bits run and reset the date properly and the problems fixes itself
