fiza Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 We run Tasc INSIGHT Parent Portal and the .ldf file has grown to 83GB. Need to shrink it but I am not sure how. Should I do this through SQL Management Studio>Tasks>Shrink>Database? Or should I choose Tasks>Shrink>Files? Never done this before so some advice would be appreciated.
BKGarry Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 You need to take a backup first, once you have done that it should allow you to shrink the files. And it is the files you wish to shrink. Also you may want to change logging from full to simple is you are only ever planning on restoring the whole DB to a certain point in time. This is what I did with SIMS 1
