[ms office - 2016] Mail Merge Hanging Word

Our human resources person is doing a mail merge from her payroll spreadsheet into a blank contract. When she goes to actually start the merge, Word hangs. I did a repair install of Word this morning. It's still hanging on this particular document. I've already tried copy/pasting both the sheet and document into new documents. It's still hanging. Any ideas?

I had this, and it was to do with no putting an end. We had to do a mail merge and specify how many results.

 

For example, if you had a list of 100 students on the excel sheet, we had to say x100. Otherwise word runs indefinitely.

Use Process Monitor and see what it's doing while/before hanging if possible.
