Zcapw97 Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Hi all, I have been asked to help out regarding timetabling at a school at very short notice. The school has taken the decision to combine the year 12 and 13 Art classes (among others) due to low numbers in both. If i do this by keeping it in the separate year 12 and year 13 curriculum years but just assign the same teacher and room then i end up with the teacher's allocation appearing to be higher than it is not to mention clash reports etc. However, if i do it by using a derived year group is there a way that I can add more than one course level as the students would be completing AS in year 12 and A2 in year 13? Any other thoughts would be appreciated - I did think of just creating a placeholder member of staff that doesn't exist but then there are issues for lining to do data entry etc. Many thanks
MkII Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 I have exactly the same problem, so very sad no answers have appeared yet! Any luck? Or any one else have any pointers please? Thanks!
CAM Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 I'd do it via Course Manager and remove the Y13 students from the AS course and put them into their own unlinked A2 course. You will need to remove automatic membership update on both courses to prevent Update Course Memberships from undoing your work. There is an Exceptions button you are meant to put the students in who aren't on the AS course (in this case Y13s) but I find this always does weird things very very wrong for me. 1
iansimpson888 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I'd have thought that the tidiest solution would be to have two classes - and timetable them at the same time (if not yet scheduled then leave one class un-staffed until the other is fixed on the cycle, then add "additional staff / double up room" via timetable) This would allow 2 distinct levels, keeping the maintenance of the academic memberships and course manager to function without manual intervention. The downside of this approach is that the staff member would need to take two registers though. But should make the P16 Census easier and hopefully more accurate. 1
