Arthur Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 It's back! Download: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/downthemall We're finally back! DownThemAll will help you select, queue, sort and run your downloads faster. It comes with advanced ways to select what links to download, and will remember your previous decisions so that you can queue more downloads with just OneClick! Advanced users will also like using renaming masks which let you automatically assign names (and even sub-folders within your downloads folder), fast-filtering or even custom, re-usable filters. Version 4 of DownThemAll! is a complete rewrite as a WebExtension, as the old add-on system was abandoned and disabled in Firefox. This was Mozilla's decision, and there is nothing we can do about it. We are therefore limited to the tools the WebExtensions model provides to us, which sadly makes it impossible to provide some of the advanced features of DownThemAll! Version 3. Furthermore there are some bugs in Firefox that affect DownThemAll! as well, e.g. sending your browser cookies with downloads was broken in Firefox 68, meaning some downloads will fail because a website might think you're not logged in, for example, but the cookies bug will be fixed in Firefox 69 again. However, we're still able to provide the advanced selection, queuing, file naming options of the old DownThemAll! and a lot more. 1
Wubbalubbadub Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Huh? 1. Do people still use Firefox? 1.1. if so why? (Genuine question) 2. Does it not have its own download manager? 2.2. if not refer to 1.1 Genuine questions!!
3s-gtech Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 1. Yes 1.1 my experience over 16 years of using it has been consistently positive throughout. I also dislike anything ‘pushed’ at me, and Chrome is constantly pushed. 2. Yes.

Yes.Good point about being pushed into Chrome, I don't think you can browse the web without seeing a download Chrome button! 🤣 Would you say Firefox is better performance than Chrome?
free780 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I'm quite impressed with Credge at the moment. I've had many issues with Chrome user sync from a DFS share. Hopefully sync will be better via AzureAD.
Arthur Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 DownThemAll! for Chrome has just been released today. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/downthemall/nljkibfhlpcnanjgbnlnbjecgicbjkge
sonofsanta Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 AT LAST I'VE MISSED IT SO MUCH And yes, I still use Firefox as my daily driver at home and work, have done since v0.7 Phoenix in god, 2002? With the Quantum engine it's faster than Chrome, less of a memory hog, and has more extensions that I can tweak more to my liking (pro tip: Tree Tabs are a lifechanger). As for DownThemAll, the best use for it is when you have a page with 30-40 downloads (e.g. PDF guides, config files, whatever); you can tell it to grab everything (with a filemask like *.pdf if necessary) and it'll do it in a handful of clicks. It's a phenomenal timesaver in the right situation. 1
