Hi,

 

Can anyone please explain how Quick Access and Windows 10 roaming profiles work?

 

When a user logs on (let's say machine 1), they can pin items to their quick access sidebar in File Explorer. If the same user logs off and back on to machine 1, quick access has all their pinned items no problem.

 

If the same user then logs off and logs on to machine 2, their quick access appears empty. If they then log off machine 2 and back on to machine 1, quick access is empty.

 

We'd obviously like quick access user pinned items to follow them around regardless of where they log on. It worked absolutely fine on Windows 8.1 so I'm wondering if W10 handles it differently?

 

Any insight/advice/experiences much appreciated.

Hi, we had a similar issue as we don't re-direct user appdata folders and came up with a registry fix that cured the issue for us applied as a User Group Policy.

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders with a Value name of 'Recent' and a REG_SZ value that maps to your users app data folder, e.g. \\server\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Recent

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders with a Value name of 'Recent' and a REG_SZ value that maps to your users app data folder, e.g. \\server\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Recent
