BroganOs Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Hi Guys, I've been teaching myself how to terminate fiber cable because I got a load of single mode duplex cable for free. I've successfully terminated two different lengths but my third one has a problem and I'm not sure which connector is the faulty one. I'm using a mix of fast connect FTTH LC connectors and epoxy ones. Using a optical pen tester I can see on one end the A connector allows light all the way to the other end, but not the reverse and on the opposite end the b connector allows light all the way but not the reverse. Does this mean that the connectors not allowing light through are faulty? I have a limited amount of connectors and I dont want to waste them. Thanks.
ITGURU Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 How do you find the fast connect connectors vs the epoxy ones ? I've always wanted to learn fiber termination, and wondered if there is , if any, difference in using quick connect ones vs epoxy.

The fast connect ones are really easy to use, cheap and I can tell if the termination has is correct straight away. Whereas the epoxy ones you need to wait until the epoxy cures and then you need to polish the tip afterwards. That been said out of 8 terminations I've done already, 2 I've done incorrectly.

Interesting..... How are you measuring the light loss between the fibre joints?
