Dos_Box Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Why am I getting a bad feeling about this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-49481210 In a market already flooded with established products and technologies why are the BBC trying to do this? It feels like Windows Mobile all over again, even the BBC News article sounds skeptical about it! 2
Steve21 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Guessing it's cheaper to link their own into "BritBox" than it is to pay Amazon? (Sceptical much!) Steve
DrBeaker Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Waste of time, resources and licence fee money. Given the recent furore with the BBC about the TV licence being scrapped for over-75s and pay rises for certain celeb staff within the same space of time. I'd say they need to refocus their efforts and not on stupid things like this either. Otherwise it's going to be very very hard for them to keep justifying the TV licence.
free780 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Maybe the BBC is moving to a subscription model like Amazon.
Achandler Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 The over-75s license fee was just a stitch up by the government, agree this new funding deal where you can now charge people for using just iPlayer (which the tories bang on about increased funding), while at the same time forcing a cost which is 25% of the BBCs income onto them. The government wanted to do it, but didn't want to be blamed and lose the grey vote, so they forced someone else to do the dirty work. Can't they basically sack everyone paid over 100k and still lose 20% of there income if they maintained the free TV Licenses, it's nothing to do with the pay of celebs or what not. Maybe when Sajid "the turncoat" Javid shakes his money tree next week they'll magically fund some licenses for people and buy some votes. It's basically just a game of guess when the next general election will be, how many votes can you buy before it.
JJonas Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 BBC to pull all radio services from TuneIn UK Well I guess we know where they are going 1
