[sccm 2012] SCCM not deploying 1903 upgrade update

Ok, so I deployed an update with SCCM (the 1903 upgrade targeted to a test machine), looking at Deployment Status it only states Client check passed/Active... a blank folder exists in the Windows\CCMCache folder... a file is generated in Windows\CCM\Temp called Delta_b6be66e2-e8f6-4fe3-97a4-665e2f8acff1 with a size of 1KB nothing is installed... any ideas?

how did you deploy? did you use the software update method or the ts sequence with the extracted iso?

Software update. Ironically testing TS upgrade deployment at present and that appears to be working... but would really like to get the update working as well.

I had no joy with the update. it was v odd. the Ts method seems to be a winner.you can set it to deploy as you would an update but can also run it manually if you opt to show operating systems in software centre. we've experienced it taking between 40 mins and 4 hours. you will need to change the timeout window and it will run quicker if you nuke profiles first.

Same here. I was forced to use a TS since Microsoft blocked the 1703 > 1903 upgrade if their PDF and XPS printers were installed so I had to uninstall them. Very strange!

 

The TS method does seem to be a better option since it gives you more control.

 

Something else you can do to speed up the upgrade is to set the OSDSetupAdditionalUpgradeOptions dynamic variable. The two options below seem to help.

 

/BitLocker TryKeepActive [color="#FF0000"]/DynamicUpdate Disable /Priority High[/color]

Is it worth running SetupDiag?

 

Gave it a run, but no failure signatures, so looks like it's only reading from the part after it downloads the update to the local machine... it seems in my case it isn't even getting so far as downloading it, even though it's certainly on the server.
