Chromebook devices and office 365

Hi all,

 

I am thinking about chromebook devices for students but we are office 365 school so is there a way students can sign it using o365 or AD to chromebook devices? Anyone has done it before?

We switched to using Public sessions so they don't need to logon to the chromebook (it's a lot faster this way)

 

Once the session has started they are requested to logon to our filtering system for internet access

 

They can then login to o365 if they want access to email/office etc

This is great thank you. Do I need to buy the chrome licence if I will be using public sessions?

If you want to manage the chromebooks with the Google Admin Console you will need the licences

 

I just enable public session via the Google Admin Console

 

Whether you can enable public sessions without it I don't know

You're somewhat defeating the point of the device if you go Chromebook and don't use G Suite. Things like the Surface Go and Acer Spin etc... seem like they'd be more your sort of device if you are wedded to Office 365.

This is possible, can do SSO with Azure AD or ADFS theres loads of guides on this. You still need to have google accounts but everything is authenticated through Microsoft. I've then setup a homepage when the login with SSO links for Office 365 Email, Onedrive etc.

this stops you from able to MITM the traffic and inspect it?

I would second this option. It works really well. At the login page, rather than logging into google, you just see the ADFS / (or other SAMLif you don't have ADFS) page. After sign in it automatically logs you into the correct wifi via 802.1x and all the Office365 AND Google apps are already signed in.
